Rabbit Anti-DNAH8/FITC Conjugated antibody
background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a heavy chain of an axonemal dynein involved in sperm and respiratory cilia motility. Axonemal dyneins generate force through hydrolysis of ATP and binding to microtubules. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
Function:
Dyneins are microtubule-associated motor protein complexes which are composed of several heavy, light, and intermediate chains. Dynein heavy chains (DHCs) are responsible for force production and ATPase activity and contain a highly conserved catalytic domain with 4 P-loop consensus motifs involved in nucleotide binding. Two major classes of dyneins, axonemal and cytoplasmic, have been identified. Axonemal dyneins, found in flagella and cilia, are components of the outer and inner dynein arms attached to the peripheral microtubule doublets. DNAH8 is an outer arm axonemal DHC.
Subunit:
Consists of at least two heavy chains and a number of intermediate and light chains.
Subcellular Location:
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton, cilium axoneme (By similarity).
Similarity:
Belongs to the dynein heavy chain family.
