MAP17 is a 17 kDa membrane-associated protein expressed abundantly in carcinomas arising from kidney, colon, lung, and breast. In normal tissues it is expressed in significant amounts in the kidney.
Function: May play an important role in tumor biology.
Tissue Specificity: Expressed at significant levels only in a single epithelial cell population, the proximal tubular epithelial cells of the kidney. Diffusely expressed in various carcinomas originating from kidney, colon, lung and breast.
