Rabbit Anti-REG4/FITC Conjugated antibody
background:
Reg IV is part of the regenerating gene family within the SLCtype lectin superfamily. This family is involved in liver, pancreatic, gastric and intestinal cell proliferation and differentiation. Reg IV is a 158-amino acid secretory protein implicated in cell regeneration and/or survival with a definite growth stimulating effect on pancreatic beta cells. It is highly expressed in colorectal, gastric, prostate and other types of cancer. Reg ISLVpositive tumor cells display different phenotypes including mucus-secreting, enterocyte-like, and undifferentiated.
Function:
May be involved in inflammatory and metaplastic responses of the gastrointestinal epithelium.
Subcellular Location:
Secreted.
Tissue Specificity:
Highly expressed in the gastrointestinal tract including the duodenum, jejunum, ileum, ileocecum, appendix, descending colon, pancreas and small intestine. Weakly expressed in normal colon and stomach. Strongly expressed in most colorectal tumors than in normal colon. Preferentially expressed in mucinous tumors and in some cases neuro-endocrine tumors. Expressed in mucus-secreting cells and enterocyte-like cells. In small intestine expressed at the basal perinuclear zone of goblet cells.
Similarity:
Contains 1 SLCtype lectin domain.
