Rabbit Anti-HHV11 ICP22/FITC Conjugated antibody
background:
Herpes simplex type 1 (HSSLV1) belongs to a family that includes HSSLV2, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Varicella zoster (chicken pox) virus amongst others. HSSLV1 and HSSLV2 are extremely difficult to distinguish from each other. Members of this family have a characteristic virion structure. The double stranded DNA genome is contained within an icosahedral capsid embedded in a proteinaceous layer (tegument) and surrounded by a lipid envelope, derived from the nuclear membrane of the last host, which is decorated with virus-specific glycoproteins spikes. These viruses are capable of entering a latent phase where the host shows no visible sign of infection and levels of infectious agent become very low. During the latent phase the viral DNA is integrated into the genome of the host cell.
Function:
Functions as a general transcriptional regulator of cellular and viral mRNAs mainly by mediating changes on the host RNA polymerase II. One change, which is UL13 independent, is the rapid loss of Pol II forms bearing Ser-2 phosphorylation. A second change, which is UL13 dependent, is the appearance of an intermediate form of Pol II that differs from the normal hypo- and hyperphosphorylated forms. These Pol II modifications immediately inhibit host genome transcription, leading to cell cycle deregulation and loss of efficient antiviral response.
Subcellular Location:
Host nucleus. Note=Localizes in small nuclear bodies early in infection then moves to a more diffuse distribution in viral compartments as infecion progresses.
Post-translational modifications:
Tyrosine phosphorylated.
Similarity:
Belongs to the herpesviridae IE68 family.
