This gene encodes a member of the POU-IV class of neural transcription factors. This protein is expressed in a subset of retinal ganglion cells and may be involved in the developing sensory nervous system. This protein may also promote the growth of cervical tumors. A translocation of this gene is associated with some adult acute myeloid leukemias. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2012].

Probable transcription factor which may play a role in the regulation of specific gene expression within a subset of neuronal lineages. May play a role in determining or maintaining the identities of a small subset of visual system neurons.

Brain. Seems to be specific to the retina. Present in the developing brain, spinal cord and eye.

Protocol
The cells were fixed with 4% PFA (10min at room temperature)and then permeabilized with 90% ice-cold methanol for 20 min at-20℃.The cells were then incubated in 5%BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions for 30 min at room temperature .Cells stained with Primary Antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
