Rabbit Anti-Pleiotrophin antibody
Pleiotrophin is a heparin-binding growth factor involved in the differentiation and proliferation of neuronal tissue during embryogenesis, and also secreted by melanoma and breast carcinoma cells. Pleiotrophin exhibits mitogenic and angiogenic properties and has been shown to influence the vascular supply, expansion and metastasis of tumour cells.
Function:
Secreted growth factor that induces neurite outgrowth and which is mitogenic for fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells. Binds anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) which induces MAPK pathway activation, an important step in the anti-apoptotic signaling of PTN and regulation of cell proliferation.
Subunit:
Interacts with ALK and NEK6.
Subcellular Location:
Secreted.
Tissue Specificity:
Osteoblast and brain.
Post-translational modifications:
Phosphorylated by NEK6.
Similarity:
Belongs to the pleiotrophin family.
