Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 3 (LRP3) is a 770 amino acid protein that contains two CUB domains and four LDL-receptor class A domains. LRP3 is widely expressed with highest expression in skeletal muscle and ovary and lowest expression in testis, colon and leukocytes. LRP3 is potentially a membrane receptor involved in the internalization of lipophilic molecules and/or signal transduction.
Function:
Probable receptor, which may be involved in the internalization of lipophilic molecules and/or signal transduction. Its precise role is however unclear, since it does not bind to very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) or to LRPAP1 in vitro.
Subcellular Location:
Membrane. Membrane > coated pit.Target information above from: UniProt accession O75074 The UniProt Consortium

Tissue Specificity:
Widely expressed. Highly expressed in skeletal muscle and ovary. Expressed at intermediate level in heart, brain, liver, pancreas, prostate and small intestine. Weakly expressed in testis, colon and leukocyte.
Similarity:
Belongs to the LDLR family.
Contains 2 CUB domains.
Contains 4 LDL-receptor class A domains.
